Science Task by Lek Hong

Two harmless substances form a harmful compound: Carbon (C) + Oxygen (O) = Carbon Monoxide (CO) It consists of one carbon atom and one oxygen atom, connected by a triple bond, which consists of three covalent bonds. Both carbon and oxygen are harmless gasses but when they combine to form carbon monoxide, it is a harmful gas when inhaled even fatal in most countries. Carbon monoxide may have severe adverse effects on the fetus of a pregnant woman. A level of 50% carboxyhemoglobin may result in seizure, coma, and fatality. On average, 170 people in the United States die every year from carbon monoxide produced by non-automotive consumer products, thus showing its harmfulness. Carbon monoxide is produced from car exhaust fumes or factories fumes most of the time.

  1. Your dot and cross diagram needs 1 electron of carbon for each oxygen electron, you cannot have 2 carbon electron and 4 oxygen electrons to bind them together. Fanpu
