How has/will human activities in the Amazon regions affect the Allomerus decemarticulatus ants?
The amazon forest is being used for building industries and flats and it has been removed through many ways like logging and cutting of trees. The ant make use of fibre to make spongy platforms so as to catch their preys and hack them into pieces. To obtain these fibre, these ants take it from tiny hairs growing on plants. Without these plants, these ants are totally helpless and they will not have enough food for survival thus very vulnerable to their predators.
With the effect of global warming and deforestation, these preys of the Allomerus decemarticulatus ants will hide under the leaves as a form of shade thus it makes it easier for these ants to capture their prey.
From the extract, identify the different symbiotic relationships and cite the organisms involved. Clue: There are at least 3 types of relationship.
Commensalism: The Allomerus decemarticulatus ants obtain tiny hair from the plants and these ants get a gain from it however the plants is neutral as it does not do any harm or good to it.
Predatory: The Allomerus decemarticulatus ants will feed on its prey and hack it into pieces after its prey get trapped it the web.
Parasitism: The ants grows fungus on these plants and these plants have a negative effect while these fungus gain from it.
For each type of relationship you have identified in (a), name another example of a pair of organisms depicting that relationship in nature
Commensalism: Remora and Shark
Predatory: Cheetah and Thompson Gazzele
Parasitism: Tree-Ear Fungus and Tree.
