2 . Deforestation in the amazon region would lead to many plants which the Allomerus decemarticulatus worker ants normally uses to set its trap may be chopped off . Which will in turn cause some of the ants to lose their habitat . Eventually , their population would decrease and in worse case , they might be forced to extinction .
3 a . The Allomerus decemarticulatus worker ants have a commensalism relationship with the Hirtella physophora plant . They cut the hairs of the plant and use their fibres to build a spongy platform as their trap . The ants also have a predation relationship with the insects that passes through its trap . When the insect pass through its trap , the ants grab its free legs , wings and antennae . Then cart it off towards the ants’ home . The ants also have a mutualism relationship with the mould . The mould is allowed to grow around the trap and the ants get a stronger trap for their prey . :D
3 b . An example of commensalism would be the shark and the remora fish . The remora fish attach itself to the shark and feed on the leftover fragments from the shark . This way , the remora fish benefits by getting food but the shark is not harmed at all . There is a predation relationship between the tiger and the deer . The tiger eats the deer as lunch and the deer loses its life as a result . An example of mutualism is between the acacia tree and ants . The ants get shelter and food from the tree . While the acacia tree also get protection from the herbivore and allows the acacia tree to grow rapidly in areas of fierce competition among plants .
